The Growing Danger Of Wildfires

 

Few things scream “climate emergency” more clearly than seeing wildfires engulf landscapes and livelihoods. As extreme heat continues across the UK, recent research shows that relentless high temperatures have left most people increasingly anxious about the future. How do we translate that heightened concern into meaningful action when faced with the reality of destructive wildfires sweeping the country?

Speakers include

Richard Boniface is from the Australian Fire Service where they have considerable experience of wildfires. He is from the Berowra Brigade which is part of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS) which has an extensive network of brigades throughout the State. Thy deal with many bushfires and their experience is valuable as grassfires are now a growing threat to urban areas in London. Richard has given many talks throughout Europe

Also joining us will be Phil Swallow who is the Commander of the Enfield Fire Brigade and is very keen to collaborate with EnCaf. He will be joined by his colleague Andrew Holtzhausen who has also had experience fighting wild fires in South Africa

Wildfires are scorching the UK – people & nature have to be better protected

Pressure is mounting on the government to deliver an emergency response that matches the scale and severity of these disasters, with trade unions and environmental groups calling for immediate action
